WIP Tinkerbell #4

I  am definitely starting to like the way the background is looking so far. I just keep pushing through these acrylic paints.

Weekly Adventures!

I know it's been a few weeks. I have been having a hard time dealing with Mother's Day and Mom's Birthday this past weekend. I am just trying to push through day by day!

Here are few things I would like to share from the past few weeks:

I am working on a redesign for the Blog, which will follow through on my Facebook page. So keep an eye out for that soon!

The boyfriend and I a few weeks ago decided to go get gelato down at the marina a few weeks ago. I had never had gelato before, it was really yummy! I got a scoop of blueberry and a scoop of chocolate. While we walked around a fishing boat had just got back and a guy was cutting up some o the fish. He was throwing the skin and pieces back in the water and we were watching these pelicans fight over it.

We also celebrated the anniversary of when we first started dating. We have had our issues but he is still my best friend. I love him but he drives me crazy at the same time. We ended up going to Carrabba's for dinner, then after we went to this neat little bar and had a couple glasses of wine. I am realizing I like the white wines better.

For some reason I still enjoy taking pictures of the sky every once in a while. Here is a neat shot I got driving home from work one day. I love the way the Sun's rays shine through the clouds.

Books: I finally finished the Beautiful Creatures series. I liked the first and last book the best, the other two just seemed to drag on a bit. I started reading a book called Loki's Wolves and finished that this past Sunday. This is considered a kids book, but the story was great. I love books with great adventures in it. I am such a Harry Potter geek. This book was about Norse Mythology, and I don't really know a lot about this subject. The book is written by Kelley Armstrong and Melissa Marr. Melissa Marr is by far one of my favorite authors, and now I am going to have to check out Kelley Armstrong's work. I just started Charlaine Harris's last Sookie book, Dead Ever After.

Movies: I haven't been to the theater to see a movie in awhile. We have been watching a lot of movies on TV though. The past few weeks we have watched Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Star Trek, and lots of Harry Potter.

Food: Wow I have been trying a lot of new recipes from Pinterest lately.

Turkey Cutlets with Dijon Sauce. The sauce was so good, you can find the recipe Here.

Taco Soup! I kind of combined a couple recipes. It's more like a chili consistency with a Taco flavor to it.

I made a couple other recipes and didn't take pictures of them. I have been following a blog called Skinny Taste because I need to learn to cook a bit healthier. Check out her Blog, I have made a few of her recipes and they are really yummy. I have made the Asian Glazed Drumsticks, and a couple of the Baked Oatmeal recipes. The Taco Soup pictured above was part recipe from this blog also.

I was craving cupcakes and didn't want to make a whole batch. I got on Pinterest and searched for Cupcake for Two recipes. I found a couple and decided to try this one. This is an eggless recipe, the cake was great but a little dry. I might have mixed it to much, but I might try a different recipe with egg in it next time.

Music: I thought I would share another new artist to me. I really like Gotye's sound and the creepiness of the videos. The song is also fitting for the way I have been feeling lately!

WIP Tinkerbell #3

I definitely like the way the purple in the background looks. I think I will still play with the background a bit and see if I can get it more the way I want it. Still struggling a bit with how quickly the acrylic paint starts to dry and become sticky, but pushing through!

Little World Social Skills Book Design

I designed these books last year. These were tough concepts to do photo research for, but I really like the way they came out. We had an illustrator do the little animal characters in them.

WIP Tinkerbell #2

Here is the progress I have made on Tinkerbell so far. I'm not really happy with the color of the background, I tried to mix my own purple (lavender) and I don't think it has enough brightness to it. It almost has a gray tone to it. I am going to make a trip to Micheal's and get a true purple. Also I forgot how frustrating acrylics are to work with, but I will keep playing with it until I get it the way I like it.

I know I didn't share my Weekly Adventures this week, I will pick it back up next week. Nothing to exciting happened this past week. I do have a few pictures I will share with you, and I did get a sketch done in My Sketchbook. I need to keep up with my sketching also. Hopefully I will have more to share with you next time.

WIP Tinkerbell #1

I didn't get as far as I would have liked on this tonight. All I got done was transferring the sketch on the canvas. If the rain continues into the weekend I might get some painting started on it then.

Weekly Adventures April 22nd - April 29th

What a crazy week! I feel like I have been just going non-stop for a couple of weeks now.

This past Thursday I was supposed to go get my hair colored, but my cousin was busy and couldn't fit me in, hopefully I will be able to get in this Thursday. Well it worked out in the long run because the boyfriend broke down on the motorcycle and I had to go save him. We tried everything from jumping it, to going and getting gas to top it off and it still wouldn't start. The nice guys at the little car dealership let us push it inside the garage, and come get it later.

The boyfriend's birthday was yesterday and I had a hard time deciding what to get him. I did end up ordering pizza from Gino's East in Chicago for his birthday. We had been talking about wanting to order these for awhile because there isn't a pizzeria down here that does Chicago style pizza.

Another thing we had talked about wanting to do is go to a wine tasting. I got online and searched for Winery's in Florida and found we have one in the next city over. We decided to go check it out on Sunday. All their wines are made from Florida Grapes and most of them are sweeter than wines I have tasted before. I actually liked most of them except for one, which was the dessert wine. After we did the wine tasting, they had an event going on at the Pavilion they have outside. They had music, food, and Wine Slushies. We did each try a Wine Slushy, and then tried a couple different glasses of wine. We did decide that it would have been cheaper if we just bought a bottle and drank that, but it was nice trying the different wines they had. It was a very beautiful place and we had a nice relaxing time.

Books: I am reading Beautiful Redemption and making better progress with this last book than the book before. The storyline is more interesting and seems like they are going to tidy things up.

Also I am on Goodreads if anybody wants to follow what I am reading. I would love to follow other people and see what you guys are reading also.

TV: We have been watching Chopped All Stars on Food Network the past couple of weeks. This season they have celebrities competing. It's neat to see what they come up with, with the crazy baskets of ingredients.

Movie: Gangster Squad came out on DVD this past week. I ended up buying it because I had seen it in the theaters already. We watched it Friday Night. It's a pretty gritty movie with a lot of shooting and killings. It's about a group of cops that go against the grain to take out a mob boss. There were quite a few well known actors in this movie, but one I wasn't expecting to be in it is Giovanni Ribisi. I just love him he is such a great actor.

Food: Friday night we made these Fish Tacos that are one of our favorite meals, that I don't make that often. Basically all it is, I either get Tilapia or Mahi Fish depending what is on sale and pan cook it with some blackening season on it. Then I make coleslaw, and we wrap them in either flour taco shells or burrito wraps. It a very yummy simple meal.

Music: With it being the boyfriends birthday I thought I would play a song that reminds me of our relationship. While we were separated for 6 months this song made me thing about him. I am glad we are back together and learning to be with each other again. Pink is also one of my favorite female singers.
